Our Story

Hey there! We are Kelsey, Chesdean, & Rick, the founders of the Nonsensical Society for Kids! We met in 2018 at work and knew we had found each other for a reason. We believe in letting children be their full authentic selves and want to provide programming that supports exploration, self esteem, & community building. Through our programs, we challenge kids to think outside the box, follow their creativity, and get messy! We are so excited to create a society with some of the raddest kids around.

  • Chesdean, ECE (She/Her)

Chesdean, Ches, or CHEESE as she is affectionately known has been working in after-school programs, toddler gym classes, camps, and everything in between for 5 years. Chesdean is always laughing, always excited, and always ready to play. A master of all things fun, you will always find her being chased or leading games. She constantly goes above and beyond for the children she works with. She loves working with kids of all ages and watching them grow, explore, and learn new things. Chesdean holds a BA in Sociology from York University and an ECE (Early Childhood Education) Diploma from George Brown College. She loves bringing her high energy and positivity to all kids at Nonsensical Society!

  • Rick, CYC (They/Them)

Rick is the friend kids go to when they have a tough day at school or need to ask big life questions. Always down to earth and always real, they will shock you with a cool outfit one minute and be singing you a weird song they made up the next. Rick has eight years experience in after-school clubs, daycares, group homes, shelters, and multiple experiences within the TDSB. They love working with all kinds of kids, making their day a little bit weirder and a lot more fun. Their experience focuses on kids with exceptionalities with their Advanced Diploma in Child and Youth Care. Rick encourages kids to question the world around them, helping them make positive changes within their own communities!

  • Kelsey, Life Long Camp Counsellor (She/Her)

Kelsey has been working with kids since she was a kid herself! She has 14 years of experience with kids of all ages and has worked in a variety of camp and after-school club settings across Toronto. Her passion is art, but she loves any programming that is outside of the box, the stuff that inspires kids to have fun and think in new and creative ways. She is a photographer by trade but loves animation, theatre, and digital art just as much. Exploring new art forms is just what participants will get up to in her More than Paint art class! Kelsey holds a Diploma in Photography from Sheridan College and BFA in Photography from OCAD U. She is always excited to get creative with the kids at Nonsensical Society!

  • Morgan, Child at Heart (She/Her)

Morgan’s childcare experience started from humble beginnings, like helping her mom run an at-home daycare and looking after her younger siblings. Now, she has over 10 years of childcare/camp experience and is a self-proclaimed summer camp nerd. NSK’s Adventure Camp was actually inspired by her! Morgan is all about being goofy, making friends, and guaranteeing a good time no matter what. You’ll always find her making up stories, building worlds out of cardboard, or being used as a personal jungle gym. Her favourite thing to do is embarrass kids by smothering them with big bear hugs while yelling “I love you!” into their ears. A jack of all trades (master of all, duh), she’s always ready for whatever – the weirder, the better!
